“And one day she discovered that she was fierce, and strong, and full of fire, and that not even she could hold herself back because her passion burned brighter than her fears.”

She made my breath catch.
Having recently found myself drawn to the beautiful jewellery and elaborate headed pieces worn by Indian women, I knew this was something I was keen to photograph and so the search for a model began.
I didn’t have to look far as I remembered my close friend Karan had a twin sister called Sonia. Following a quick search on Instagram, I saw several pictures of her wearing beautiful pieces of jewellery and clothing that reflected her culture. She was strikingly beautiful and so I initiated a conversation. Two weeks later, Karan arrived at my studio with Sonia.
She made my breath catch. Though I’d asked her to bring ‘Indian clothing’ to our session, I did not expect her to look like this. She was striking, reminding me of images I’d seen of goddesses in movies.
Though she was initially nervous, she soon settled into it and we had a blast, with her brother and older sister on hand to assist.
Though session was short, it was enough to give me a taste of other avenues I want to explore photographically.
Big thank you to Karan for the introduction, Alisha for the assistance and Sonia for exceeding my expectations.
Until the next time
