“One of the many things nobody ever tells you about middle age
is that it’s such a nice change from being young.”
– Dororthy Canfield Fisher
If you’re reading this I’m going to assume you know what a Cake Smash is – a rapidly growing trend which originated in the US whereby small children were encouraged to literally smash a cake to pieces to the joy and merriment of friends and family to commemorate a birthday.
Cake Smash Photography is now a thing too and many photographers have cashed in on this trend and include it in their packages. They’re great fun; messy, entertaining and memorable and having looked online, they make for fantastic photographs. I was delighted to be invited to photograph one…for a 40th Birthday.
My sister was approaching the big 4 0 and asked if I’d photograph her own Cake Smash and needless to say, I had a great time doing it.
It was messy and fun and was joy to photograph my nephews getting involved too.
Like the many photographers before me, I too will be adding it to my repertoire.
Here’s to Wanjiku Calver. Wife to a top bloke, mother to my favourite small people, business owner and all round wonderful human being.
Happy 40th Big Sister.
May the coming year be filled with great memories.
Love you,
Me
Until the next time
